Close of Forum

I am thinking of closing the Forum down. Starting tomorrow the period of being ad free is up and ads will start to appear. I am no longer willing to pay to not have them. The activity in the Forum has seemed to come to a standstill so it is not like there is a great deal of interest anymore.

It was a interesting and fun thing to do and my thanks for the Staff and friends for trying to make a go of it, Bozo, BDQuick and Welan. You guys are the best.

It is a bit sad, but it is as you say.

Thank you for keeping this alive. I really liked a l lot of the discussions here in the earlier times.

Sorry I missed this topic until today, my internet was down last night. I was startled when it was gone tonight. Guess I for one am for keeping the forum open, even if we have to put up with a few small ads. The staples ad, I'm seeing at the top right now is not very intrusive. The basic forum hosting is free as I recall. If it is costing, then I can see letting it go. But I like our little hang out and chats we have, even if its more chit chat than about suse or linux. Don't seem to need as much help with linux, these days as I once did, but when I do this is my first group of experts to ask.

Just hate to lose our little community. If it is decided that closing the forum is best, then maybe we should look into other ways to stay in touch. There has to be at other free options like mailing lists or google groups. Nonetheless Welan and I will keep the IRC room open. There are a few other old sls refugees that hang out in there, but never really participate on the forum.

It is sad that this has to happen, but thanks Matt for all that you have put into this website. It certainly brought some good individuals together in an informal setting.

Ok, I'm not letting go. I've always considered everyone here to be family of a sort. Yes, we are a family of folks with a kindred interest. I thank our commander in chief Mattb for all his dedication and effort. I also want to say thanks to all the other who participated. Can't bring myself to say it....

I have been locked out from replying till now. If you guys do not mind having the ads and since the Forum is free It does not matter I guess if it stays going.

If BD or Welan would like to take over the Forum that could be arranged. They pretty well have full admin rights at the moment with the exception of the owner rights. I can look into how that is transfered.

Well I think it would be sad if we all just disbanded and didn't get to talk anymore. Things like google+ are wonderful... Well all I can say is thanks to everyone who was willing to help me the many many times I screwed something up and couldn't figure out how to fix it. You guys have always been a huge help. Feel free to add me on facebook or google+ under Jasmine Werner. It's been fun! Don't get into too much trouble mattb

Hmm... I looked into the transfer of Forum Ownership and it looks like it is not really practical without deleted all my posts and messages.
