Congratulation on your success. How long have you been working with Linux to develop your level of comfort?

Oh you're so luckiy. We used to have something similar here, but due to the rising costs of hosting, it died a few years back. That was a great source for fairly new, and sometimes new overstock items. I sure miss it.

It is dwindling here too as every year it gets smaller and smaller due to an aging ham operators population and the decline in interest of computers. It is 1/5 the size it use to be. The youngsters prefer iphones and tablets.

But alas, here is where you can still obtain the old, the obscure, the antique and the hard to find electronics that you always didn't know you needed.

The amateur radio people found a way around the problem

Perhaps there is something similar in Ontario as well.

My first experience with Linux was 99 with Corel Linux. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corel_Linux Didn't have internet back then, but got to poke around at it anyway. My first suse install was 9.1 off the Best Buy shelves.

I've got a long way to go to catch up then. It's too bad Corel failed. Both WordPerfect and Corel Draw were
masterpieces. It's too bad tryiing to take on Microsoft killed them.

I had fooled around with Red Hat on an AMD 386 but could never get past the hardware issues untill Fedora which worked somewhat and ended up with and started using openSUSE 11.0.

I'm not a programer or computer geek and due to lack of spare time do not dabble around with this stuff as much as I would like but with a background in electronics, I find it fascinating enough to keep my interest boiling.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. The much improved hardware recognition allowed me to get hooked.

I hear you. I used to be a microwave radio tech. Now that klystrons and twt's are museum peaces, I can play with Linux.

I always preferred Word Perfect. You can still buy both of the above, just saw them at Staples. However due to me being cheap, I just use LibreOffice..
