US Robotics 5610c Modem Configuration Empty
PostSubject: US Robotics 5610c Modem Configuration   US Robotics 5610c Modem Configuration EmptyWed Mar 17, 2010 5:06 am

I wonder if anyone can help me with this?

I am trying to configure this modem for the UK.
Initially, I am trying some manual dial experiments using the Terminal function in KPPP.
The problem seems to be that the UK ring tone is confusing the modem.
If I dial a modem that answers immediately (no ring tone) it seems to work OK, but if I dial a number that rings, the dialed number rings once, then stops, and the modem reports "Busy"
I have issued the commands ATB0 (use ITU-T answer sequence) and AT&G2 (set UK guard tone).

I would be very grateful for any help anyone could give me.

    Many thanks in advance

EDIT: I have just discovered (from an on-line guide to an old US Robotics Sportster modem) that issuing the command ATX2 seems to solve the problem. Don't know how or why, but it seems to work. Thanks to everyone who has read this, and I hope this helps someone else.
