Which is the "best", or is it just a matter of personal taste?

I would be grateful for any opinions/experiences.

Thanks in advance

For me, I prefer VMware over Virtual box. I presently use the Player version that now has the ability to create VM's. I tried out Virtual box but it would not work for creating a VM of Win 98. I also found the interface to be harder to understand but that could be due to the fact I have used VMware products for 3 years. Virtual box also had difficulty in detecting/utilizing my CD/DVD Rom properly.

I would guess it is all in what features are necessary for your needs.

Thanks Mattb.

I have had a look at the vmware website, and it looks very impressive. The only thing that puts me off is the amount of personal information they want for registration - not that I'm paranoid or anything!

Ah... you have the same feelings about giving out personal information as me. I go to great lengths to avoid giving ammunition to mine enemies cherry

Only one I've used was the virtual box community edition. It seemed to work ok.

You can supply whatever personal data you like, e.g. I'm myrtle fothergill over at VMware, CEO of a company with 1250 VM machines. So you don't have to worry about paranoia, change your details to reflect who you'd like to be rather than who you are Laughing

Hey, I know your cousin. Doesn't he work tending the Virtual Moocow Dairy down in the Bottom Country? Him and I go long back when we both served in the same regiment in The Corp of Army Ants. Boy where there some long marches. Though nobody messed with us.
