| I am still stuck in the Computer Triassic and use a Desktop for my computational needs. But I heard a comment today that with the iPad and other types of devices, the person making the comment would no longer be replacing their Laptop. This was because a regular computer was no longer required for personal type uses.
So what your favorite? | |

| I'm a little stuck in the past with you, still using and preferring a desktop. For some things the yellow pad and pencil is still preferred. I do own and use a laptop, mostly for easy transport to my broadband access, although this doesn't help much in keeping my desktop updated. I'm thinking of getting a cheap PDA, just for appointment keeping/calendar purposes. The laptop is just too bulky and slow to boot for quick consultation/additions. | |

| I'm a desktop fan too. I have an eeePC 901 netbook for any mobile needs or when "senior management" (i.e. my wife!) is monopolising the desktop, but otherwise find the desktop far more flexible and usable for serious work. | |

Used in previous poll, hcvv. I see I put notebook instead of netbook. You know how it is, Friday Evening, snatching time to connect from the whirl of High Society activities, Costume Balls, Soirées, Fish frys, Hoe downs, Banjo Contests and such I am forced to attend.

Don't worry, I wouldn't know the difference.

Actually, no. An abacus is a device for conting ON - it isn't capable of counting by itself. Much like The_Bdquick in a way - he can't count either - but on the other hand, nor can you count on him. Dracula - now, if you want to know anything about counting, he's your man - a little batty, but a good guy.

Dracula - now, if you want to know anything about counting, he's your man - a little batty, but a good guy. Isn't he kinda dark tough? He really knows how to sink his teeth into something though. An abacus can do more than count. An abacus can also do math. Abacus' were very popular before the advent of calculators. I even heard of some sing them for computing calculus equations. I, myself, have a desktop, and have had one since.... Well, ya might not believe me if I told ya. When I went to ITT Tech I was trained on a 486 at 6 MHz that had turbo up to 12 Mhz. That was back in 1991, if you were interested. So naturally, I am used to them. On the other hand, I just purchased two laptops from LinuxCertified. I do like them. The main thing I miss is not having the 10 key, key ad to my right, like a standard keyboard. I also recently acquired http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=ICDPX720&LOC=3
