in celebration of 11.3 Empty
PostSubject: in celebration of 11.3   in celebration of 11.3 EmptyMon Jul 19, 2010 3:58 pm

Ok guys, I did this recently and wanted to launch it the same day as 11.3 but I was waiting on permission for use of a lightprobe for my image based lighting.

plus there were a couple tweaks here and there, it is actually part of a more complex model, but not bad for my first render....at least I hope:dont-know:

once I finish the entire model I will post.

the link takes you to the 2560x1600 res, there are two others at 1920x1200 and 1680x1050

(if you guys see this post on the main suse forum, don't get angry, just copied and pasted Embarassed being lazy today, but I am stoked at how it came out )

That is a real work of art - must have taken a long time, but what is best, is the creativity that goes into it.

I appreciate that Alastairo, I finally posted the whole model at kde look, you can check it out HERE

there are other resolutions as well.

I decided to start off on a robot because, though common as heck, it really allowed me to apply almost every modeling concept to the mesh and learn as I went...my next endeavor will be an organic, that seems to be a true test in modeling and texturing, but I guess for my first model and only second render, it's ok.

I wanted to put the logos of three of the major distros on the robots heads, openSuSE, Fedora, and Debian but since each has specific guidelines on logo use, I wrote their perspective legal departments to see if I could use the logos together and none of them wrote back, except fedora which said they would think about it, so fug it, I did a vector penguin instead.

Well that kinds of crummy of them. Guess I probably wouldn't have even thought to ask.
