Well, welan finally upgraded my system to 11-2 and of course I have to play with everything and make it look cool but I wasn't totally sure what everything I was playing with did. Naturally when I don't know what I'm doing I mess things up. My task bar doesn't show what windows I have open which is very annoying because I keep losing windows. Also my notifications thing( where the sound mixer and updater are) isn't in the task bar anymore and I can't figure out how to put it back. The old_fart was of no help so I was wondering if someone had any ideas on how to fix these problems that I have caused. You would think that welan would know by now that he can't leave me alone with a computer because I am hazardous to its health but I guess he never learns... anyway any suggestions?

Ha ha, lil pingus, you sound like me! I'm not in 11.2 right now, but I *think* what you need is to right click on the taskbar and add widgets (or something like that). Look for the system tray (or something like that) for the notifier, and I can't remember what the place where the open windows are shown is called; I'm just too old. but put one widget at a time on there and if you don't like it just right click again and remove it. You'll find the ones you want eventually. That's how I did it. I still haven't gotten everything in the *order* I like them, but at least the stuff is there.

Good luck, and if I'm wrong, somebody will tell you about it, I'm sure! Smile

Thank you so much bozo! You gave me the start that I needed to fix my problems. We weren't sure what the widgets were called but I found them and fixed it. Now I just need to learn to not play with things when I don't know what they do. Hehe... I wonder how long it will take me to learn that lesson...

One thing I found with KDE 4 was that I didn't have to try to screw it up; I think it was just my magnetic personality. I lost those widgets without right clicking on the task bar and selecting remove widgets; I just tried to do one thing (i.e. pull on a handle somewhere) and something would be missing somewhere else! Sad So don't feel bad about getting it messed up in the first place. I think it's something that happens to extraordinarily intelligent people. Must be tuned for the masses. albino

Glad I've actually helped someone in the forums for once. Maybe I'll try again someday!

Well I seem to be prone to making screw ups like that. I was just messing around with stuff in the task bar not really knowing what some of it did. Haha this happens regularly to intelligent people. Well thanks again for the help bozo! What a Face

Breaking things is how we all learn. Next time practice on welan's machines.

Haha bd but I can't practice on welan's computers because I get in trouble when I screw them up. He might chase me around the igloo with duck tape again or threaten me with popsickles Sad
