I'm not sure if this question is pertinent but will ask anyway, I just noticed that after an update the Mozilla's "privet browsing" option in tools is gone. Does anyone know if it is placed somewhere else or eliminated?

I do use it to cut down on spammers when I am browsing.

I saw them post an update about it moving and couldn't figure out why my Win 7 didn't have that feature and was still on version 17 instead of 20. Discovered that mozilla has two update channels "release" which gets new versions a lot, and "ESR" which is an extended support cycle and gets security fixes.

Don't know how you log into Windows 7, I do as a limite user. Had the same problem as well, FF kept insisting I was on the current release.
I logged in as the administrator, and FF immediately updated. Thunderbird did the same. Seems like these products no longer update on limited, or guest accounts.

It wasn't to do with my user login rights. I think this will explain it better than me. If you notice on the about box, it says which update channel you are on.

OK I see what you mean, although unless you are in an enterprise environment, I can't think of an advantage to using the ESR version. Mind you, I like having the latest and greatest version on hand, not everyone does. If you are on the ESR version, then you won't be getting updates with the exception of security patches for quite a while. Did you see the schedule here:

Yes I did look at their release schedule. When I downloaded the install, I didn't realize what I was doing. Was just in a hurry to get firefox.
