With it being a rather long cold Winter this last season, I found myself spending time at many different forums. (Not this one so much, sorry Crying or Very sad ) There was heavy equipment forums, preppers forums (TEOTWAWKI), relationship forums and of course Slashdot. All rather interesting ways to fill up time as the wolves circled the place and the north wind howled outside. It is interesting how the Internet is allowing such a wide sharing of information and philosophies.

Not to mention the shopping mania the "net is these days. Where you can find anything if you properly search it out.

However it brings up some thoughts on the shape and direction of the Forum we have here. What would you folks as members like in the way of other Forum topics to shoot the breeze about? I am open to having Categories of things not strictly related to computers and Linux. Though I prefer to avoid the biggies of trouble making, Politics and Religion. Anything else could be fair game from home black smithing to alternative energy or what have you that might get a conversation rolling.

So anyone got anything?

Smile

Those two sound pretty good! Most of my time this winter has been taken up with trying to split wood as fast as I'm burning it. (Not that I'm burning it all that fast, I'm just slow.) Photography is a hobby of mine (a corollary of this would be the ever popular posting of swimsuit models, but I'm not sure that's the way I'd like to see this forum go!); some others are air guns (and other guns), hunting (particularly with air guns) and fishing (not so much with air guns Smile). I find the input from those in other countries on those subjects interesting. With the economy the way it is, coping strategies are a helpful topic, and could be anything from saving gas (there's a tie in with alternative energy) to vegetable gardening to side businesses to bring in a little extra cash to home based businesses for those who have found themselves unemployed to ...? Then there's the long tradition of cooking discussions (when algore invented the Internet, it was used initially for swapping research secrets and recipes), although our recipe category has not been all that busy; maybe because this has been supposed to be a Suse forum and some (like me) might have felt a little guilty posting there while the Linux categories were languishing). Although I find myself not really cooking (creatively, anyway) that much lately; but I have tried to keep my hand in the BBQ and Dutch oven categories.

I guess I should let somebody else speak up before this gets too long.

Well my interest are varied including air rifles. I have owned a RWS Model 45 since 1980 are there abouts. Sporting Air rifles back then were rather few and far between.

I looked through a interesting site on air guns for a bit here a month or so ago. I have seen some ones lately that now use a Nitro gas piston instead of a spring like the one I have. Not to mention the advent of many making use of .25 caliber like the old Benjamin pump did. The speed and accuracy of some of these are quite astonishing. So is some of the prices Laughing

Sounds like your have many varied interests as well Bozo. Though that wood splitting is not one of my favorites. Been spending the last couple of weeks getting my firewood ready for next Winter. I prefer cutting the trees before the sap rises and allowing the wood to dry during the Summer months. I used up my last stick from Winter last week. Did not expect to go through as much as I did but it has been a long cold Season.

My new high efficiency wood stove did fairly well keeping things warm until the Temperature plunged to -10F. At that point I needed to throw some electrons on to burn as well. Hated burning the electrons since they are getting rare to find these days. Some say they may go extinct soon if people do not cut back on their usage.

Do not know anything about photography other than which end of the lens to look through. Also did not realize they were the key to swimsuit models. Cool

I think it would be good to have other things to talk about. Afraid I don't have any especially good ideas for topics, but my interests are far more varied than my knowledge.

The time is quickly approaching to start putting the pulling truck back together for the season too. Also need to get back to work on fixing some things in my Points Tracker program before the season kicks off.

I was just thinking I need to get a new fishing rod and reel. Actually bought a new spinner cast last year, but I just don't get along with that dumb thing. A good old zebco classic is hard to beat.

How about product "reviews", for things we've bought and would recommend or not to others?
